Every woman desires to have plump, large, and aesthetically appealing breasts. The information regarding breast reduction surgery applies to breast lift surgery as well. The distinction lies in the fact that, in addition to sagging, the breast has a normal or reduced size, rather than being large. Breast tissue may lose its volume due to weight loss, aging, or following the lactation process, leading to a saggy appearance due to the laxity of the skin covering it. Breast lift surgery aims to restore the appearance of sagging breasts. In cases where sagging breasts lack sufficient volume, more than one breast lift surgery might be necessary.
For achieving perkier breasts, breast lift surgery can be combined with breast prosthesis implantation. During breast lift surgery, excess skin is removed, the diameter of the areola (the pigmented area around the nipple) is reduced, and the nipple is lifted. Breast lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia and typically lasts about 2 to 3 hours, depending on the extent of the procedure. The patient stays in the hospital for one night.
The surgical scars and technique vary based on the degree of breast sagging. Alongside achieving beautiful breasts, the goal is to minimize scars as much as possible. For breasts with mild sagging, the preferred technique involves scars around the nipple, while for more pronounced sagging, the technique involving vertical scars extending downward from the nipple is favored.
Post-operative pain can be alleviated with simple painkillers. All sutures used are dissolvable. Patients can typically return to work after 3 to 4 days.
